Goan Crab Curry

Crab,  another favorite item for sea-food lovers. When i was in WB,  i saw only red crabs,  bt here in Bangalore blue printed crabs are most popular and tastier too. I haven't tried this dish in GOA, as i have never been there. Reason after naming it is the ingredients tamarind and coconut.

Main recipe is my mom's,  i just tried to give it a little change. Its bit tangy than sweet.
So here we go.


Ingredients

500gm crabs cleaned and cut,
1 tsp salt,
1 tsp turmeric powder,
1 tsp cumin powder,
2 tbsp onion paste,
1 tsp ginger paste,
1 tsp garlic paste,
2 tsp hanging curd,
1 tsp tamarind paste,
2-3 green chillies paste,
2 tsp crushed coconut,
1 tsp garam masala powder,
Mustard oil.


Process

In wok heat oil add the crabs with little salt and turmeric powder, fry till golden. Keep it aside.
In the same oil add thw paste of onion,  ginger,  garlic and chillies. Fry them till oil cimea out.
Add 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and cumin powder.  Mix well.
Add beaten hanging curd and tamarind paste. Again mix and add water for gravy consistency. Bring it to boil add fried crabs pieces.
As you reach to your needed gravy amount add garam masala powder.
Garnish with crushed coconut.
Enjoy with steam rice.

Morich bhetki


Bhetki fish in pepper paste. Got bhola bhetki fish round abt 1 n 1/2 kilo. Cut in round pieces, so didn't took chance for paturi. Tried it with golmorich paste ( black pepper paste). Believe me, it can compete with paturi.

Ingredients

2 fish pieces (200 gm approx),
8-10 pepper corns,
1 tsp poppy seeds ( posto),
1 tsp mustard seeds (sorse),
1 tsp ginger paste,
1 tsp turmeric powder,
Mustard oil,
3 green chillies,
Salt acc to taste.

Process

Gas process..
Made a semi watery (not too thick) paste of poppy seeds,  mustard seeds, black pepper corns and 2 green chillies.
Marinated fish pcs with turmeric powder and salt.
Heat mustard oil and fried the fish pcs.
In the same oil add the above made paste with 1 green chilli,  ginger paste,  turmeric powder and salt.
Add water, bring it to boil and add fried fish pieces.
As it form thick gravy,  switch off the gas.
Add 1 tsp mustard oil as a topping.

Enjoy with steam rice.

Potato Croquettes

Potato Croquettes, outer crunchy inner softy a perfect tea partner veg snack recipe.
Simple recipe easy to make and great taste.

Ingredients

2 big sized potatoes (boiled and smashed),
1 big sized onion (very finely chopped),
2 green chillies (chopped),
1 tsp nutmeg/jaiphal powder,
1 tbsp Coriander (finely chopped),
1 tsp bread crumbs (for binding),
1/2 tsp chaat masala,
3 tbsp oats (for rolling),
1 tsp besan (for batter),
12-15 kismis ( for filling) optional,
Salt acc to taste,
Oil (for frying).

Process

Boil the potatoes with the peel. Take off the peel and smash the potatoes.
Add chopped onions,  green chillies,  Coriander chopped, g nutmeg powder, salt, bread crumbs,  chaat masala mix all.
Shape like ball,  add 3-4 kismis inside the balls. (if you are a cheese lover,  can also insert small dice of cheese in place of kismis).
Make a watery batter with Besan and water, dip those balls, roll them in oats.
Heat oil in deep frying pan and fry the balls,  till light golden. Make sure dont over fry,  otherwise oats will burn.
Serve with sauce or chutney.
